Pelham Lodge No. 1303

Charity

We collect in lodge and at the festive board, and give monthly to Masonic charities.

How we give

We collect donations in lodge or at our festive boards, which usually go to our Benevolent Fund. We decide, and have complete control over, how this money is distributed.

We also give what we can afford to the wider Masonic charities on a monthly basis. This benefits from Gift Aid, which enhances the fund by 20%. Masonic charities are managed by a Provincial team, but all lodges have a say in how the money is used. As Masons we are fully in control, and can make a big difference to many smaller charities.

Recent gifts

In 2018 we were proud to deliver in person:

  • £1,000 to the Evelina Children's Hospital
  • £500 to Ylena
  • £1,400 to the Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity

Jointly with another Lewes lodge, we secured a Provincial pledge of £10,000 for a lad called Jakey, through Sullivan's Heroes. The Guy's and St Thomas' Children's Theatre benefited from £500. We also made donations to Chailey Heritage Enterprise Centre, St Peter and St James Hospice and St Catherine's Hospice. These charities were nominated by our members.

Our widows are all presented with a gift at Christmas.
