For many, Masonry is about fun, charity and ritual, and Pelham Lodge prides itself on all three.
Charity. We always strive to exceed our targets, and are viewed highly by Province and Grand Lodge alike, helping those less fortunate wherever possible. Pelham also looks after the widows of former members, and those who are sick, with assistance, company and encouragement where required.
Ritual. Ritual and floor work are like acting: there are scripts to learn and floor work to rehearse. Pelham is renowned for its excellence in both, and is regularly invited to assist other lodges in their ceremonies. We do not use the ritual books during our meetings. We rely on the strength and knowledge of our members.
Fun. We dine after every meeting, and hold social evenings to which friends and families are invited.
What you will get from it
Everyone gets something different from Masonry, but always with the support of the brethren. Members are encouraged to progress through the offices, and all of them, whether Past Masters or progressing for the first time, are assisted, coached and supported from day one. The more you put in, the more you learn and the more satisfaction you get.
Want to know more?
People join Masonry for many reasons: to meet like-minded people, to help with their confidence, or to support worthy causes and charities. We are not in it for personal gain. In fact, this is frowned upon in our constitution. We are there to improve ourselves, both personally and as members of society.
Our oldest member is over 90 and our youngest is in his 20s. If you see a group of men in dark suits having fun in a pub, they are not necessarily undertakers after a stressful day.
